Testimonials

Staff was motivated, knowledgeable, professional, and extremely flexible in dealing with the group.  My “agenda” was to observe and learn. However participation resulted in my own reintegration even after being home for 30 years I still had issues I was repressing.
All modules and exercises were appropriate and well presented.  The scheduling of the different exercises was excellent as it molded the group efficiently and aggressively in balance.
The focus on the individual was dead on in my experience as a military member and parent of a military member.  The workshop was excellent in experience and participation, the staff and the program exceeded my expectation

The weekend helped me emotionally and mentally, I would recommend it to other veterans.  It showed me how to get balance in my life.  This is a stellar program that needs to be well funded and sent to more States to help veterans.  I would recommend F&H as a tool to help veterans reintegrate and find peace.
AWESOME PROGRAM

It was a great way to deal with problems I thought would haunt me.  I went through thoxse dark places I didn’t want to go and got rid of the shame, anger and guilt I had for what happened.  It gets you to go beyond the fear.

It wasn’t what I expected at all, I’m really glad I came it was a great experience. They brought out some of the things I haven’t really talked about that have caused me stress. It really helps you with problems you might have; they do a great job of securing you in.I would recommend this training to my superiors and fellow officers, good luck guys

This weekend was a tremendous help for me, there was no pressure to participate.  It allowed me to vent and express my emotions in a safe environment.  Saturday was very powerful, at first I was anxious to participate because I had nothing to contribute, then I found that there was something inside me that I needed to deal with.  I benefited greatly from connecting to what was going on inside me. Return to Honor provides a safe place to face you demons.  I would like to come back and staff the workshop.
--Matthew Koss
Overall impression very good, it forced me to accept and come to terms with my issues of leaving theater and coming home.  The weekend gave me the opportunity to see there is more than one way to deal with internal issues.  It’s ok to share feelings, Freedom and Honor provides a means to assist with different view points and experiences, the workshop was effective and provides a neutral environment to discuss whatever you want without judgment.  I would recommend this program to anyone with fears of the past or present.  Having a Vietnam Veteran in the class helped a lot because it showed that even though the fight was different, the emotions, thoughts, feelings were the same. It allowed for a bond on a more even playing field from past warriors.  The Freedoms Foundation provides a safe non-military setting and honors our fallen soldiers.

The retreat was effective and deals with the true nature of the problem, all the exercises were well conducted.  I would like to attend again as a staff person, excellent work.
--Vietnam Veteran
I have been around the block in recovery and psychological programs and I was stunned at the effectiveness of the group work here. I have personally performed memorials for 69 different marines and sailors. I can now leave what happened behind after having an amazing break through due to this program.  I believe Freedom and Honor can help vets release their trauma and prepare them to have a healthy reintegration back into their respective communities.

It helped me trust myself and get past the grief. I especially liked the second day.  Freedom and Honor is a great way to get in touch with your feelings and find yourself.  Great job everyone.

In a caring open way this program gives men and women the opportunity to choose how they step back into their lives.

It gave me the tools to move forward in my life.  I want to express my gratitude to RTH for the gifts that I received and gave this weekend.
--Walter Stewart USN Air Crewman Vietnam Veteran
Everything was outstanding. It was everything I hoped for and more. I left my excess baggage here and I’m going home to my children a new man and a better Daddy.  Keep everything the same I know from doing back to back deployments and having a lot of issues that this program really works.  It opened my eyes to what was making me angry all the time, I will recommend this program to all my returning deplorers thanks again for helping me find peace and happiness again.  THANKS.

Having gone through this program in October 06, I came back to be on staff.  It was awesome to help veterans with reintegration within the civilian community
--Angel Fernandez MA {PJ} Navy {RET}
It helped bring out a lot of negative emotions.  I think every soldier coming back should go through this program; I look forward to working with you in the future with other veterans

Caring committed staff was designed to get under the surface of combat stress, was successful in that goal.  As a counselor with no combat experience I thought at fist the workshop wouldn’t apply to me, but it did.  It helped me connect to the sacrifice of veterans and help me move forward in my journey.  One of the great strengths of this program is communication through out the weekend.  Gratitude to our military’s service in theater, the locations and historical settings helped to cement the message of the workshop.  I would like to see something offered for human services professionals who I think could use this to expand and grow with the information provided.

Not what I expected but a great experience, very healthy and helpful I would recommend this program to my fellow Veterans.  Gave me a real picture of the problem and put my overall service in perspective.  Helped me decompress and let go of things that hold me back.  Thanks to the great staff. Hope this makes it to North Carolina.  Keep doing what you do

Totally not what I had expected, but totally what I needed.  Allowed me to open up and let go of what I was carrying.  The staff genuinely wanted to help and were not judgmental.  This campus is a great spot for this program.  I felt honored to be surrounded by the history and stories of so many heroes’.  The grounds are awesome!  Please continue to do this program> I will gladly assist in any way to help get the word out.  I have a genuine concern for the well being of all my fellow veterans.
--SSG Holly Mullis
I would recommend it to my fellow veterans. The facilitators help get to what vets are typically very good at suppressing.
--Andy LaBree Army
It was well organized and useful. The ceremonies and traditions used gave a feeling of reintegration.
--Peter L. Cullen 1966-69, Spec.4, US Army, Infantry, Vietnem
I was impressed by the compassion and commitment of the staff. I also value the fact they came with significant training & experience. I thought it was very valuable that they were very conscious of safety for the participants. The communication of dignity, honor & respect was very apparent, and I think a strong point.
--Jeff Terry Chaplain Navy
It was very good, powerful, heartfelt, and provided inspiration for the future in ways that were not originally my goals. Very good job of identifying underlying issues.   A true thank you. The journey for me has been long to get the North Dakotans here. Thanks for all the logistical assistance. My tour is not a secret, but it has tried to be hidden. You were good with me in the handling of my individuality. Sincerely, my gratitude is immense.

When searching for something it is good to have a connection to those who have had some of the same experiences to be able to be expected to move on. Continue to get the word out. At this time there are not a lot of options out there and the program helps fill a need.  Thank you
--Corean Swart Army
This program does a great job in helping veterans dealing with their feelings and to help find themselves. I had a great time being a first time staffer. It was an honor helping everyone and a joy to help them. Knowing that what I said or did something’s made them think in a more positive way was a real joy to me and I feel honored to have been there.
--Brenna M. Wheatley Navy
